Glenn Amer was born in Sydney. He studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music High School, and later at the Conservatorium itself. An invitation to London was accepted at the age of thirteen to participate in the studios of renowned accompanist, Geoffrey Parsons and Erich Vietheer (voice).

Glenn was on staff at the Australian Institute of Music as both voice teacher and vocal coach from 1997 to 2004 and, concurrently, guest coach for the National Academy of Music (based in Melbourne).

Glenn is featured as an Headline Entertainer on all the major cruise lines. Touring with these companies has taken him all over the world many times and extensively throughout Australia.

Glenn was the youngest pianist in history to cut pianola rolls (for the Mastertouch Piano Roll Company), and has made acoustic cylinder recordings for the Vulcan Cylinder Record Company in England.

His ABC Classics recording with the Seven Sopranos (featuring Glenn’s arrangements, conducting and piano playing) debuted at number 2. He has other recordings on Fanfare Classics, Sony DSD and EMI.

In addition, Glenn is Director of Music to St. Peter’s Anglican Church, Cremorne and enjoys playing the three manual pipe organ there and regularly plays at the five manual console of the Sydney Town Hall. In January 2020 he was appointed Head of the Piano Faculty at Hume Conservatorium of Music.

Glenn has an extensive collection of historical recordings. He loves vintage cars. Be sure to say hello at a performance sometime!
